VMO 5G MIMO low profile puck antenna

The VMO 5G MIMO antenna is a low profile puck designed to complement 5G routers and devices. Based on our popular CMO antenna, the VMO offers two wideband 4G/5G ports covering 600-6000 MHz.

A permanent, through-hole mount antenna, the VMO is IP67 rated when mounted securely on a flat metal surface.The VMO mounts via a threaded stud and is held in place by a robust locking nut. In conjunction with the gasket underneath, a waterproof seal against a flat mounting surface can be formed ensuring that the antenna is suited to continuous outdoor deployment. The VMO antenna operates most effectively if it is mounted onto a metal surface, enclosure or bracket. The mounting hole size is 20mm.

Ideal for both fixed and mobile 5G applications, the VMO 5G MIMO puck antenna lends itself well to security, CCTV and 5G access applications where antenna ports are required to connect to the router.

Alldisc-S 5G ready low profile dome antenna

The Alldisc-S 5G ready low profile dome from PCTEL is a high performance antenna. It is designed for applications such as Smart Cities, Metering, EV-Charging and IoT installations.

Five innovative 5G antennas for outdoor deployments are featured in this short summary. For 5G applications, quality antennas are necessary for optimal reception and network performance. For applications where the use of fixed directional antennas are not possible or undesirable, high performance omni antennas are often required.

FTR6072 wideband blade antenna now available

The FTR6072 wideband blade antenna is designed for direct mounting onto 5G routers and devices. Housed in a black, nylon sheath, the FTR6072 mounts directly via a SMA-Male connector.

This antenna covers frequencies from 600 MHz to 7200 MHz with consistent gain across the bands. This allows it to operate at most 5G frequencies worldwide. The antenna has an articulating SMA connector and locks in either a vertical or right-angle position. With an overall length (when vertically extended) of 231mm and maximum width of 22.6mm, the FTR6072 wideband 5G antenna is a compact solution for 5G routers.

HX-CH7018A Embedded Helix Antenna with L-Band

HX-CT3602A Timing Antenna GPS GLONASS L1

The HX-CT3602A timing antenna from Harxon is especially designed for timing, mobile, precision and military applications, covering the GPS, GLONASS and GALILEO signal reception. It can provide truly circular response over the antenna’s entire bandwidth thereby producing superior multipath signal rejection.

This antenna features a highly circular wideband patch element with a high-performance Low Noise Amplifier. The FTR6072 wideband 5G terminal blade antenna is designed for direct mounting onto 5G routers and devices. Housed in a black, nylon sheath, the FTR6072 mounts directly via a SMA-Male connector. Based on our proven WTR7270 mechanical design, the FTR6072 is a very neat solution for portable and fixed devices.

This antenna supports frequencies from 600 MHz to 7200 MHz with consistent gain across the bands. This allows it to operate at most 5G frequencies worldwide. CLO 4G/5G low profile puck antenna

The CLO 4G/5G low profile puck antenna is a permanent mount antenna, housed in a tough and durable enclosure. The antenna is a screw-mount antenna requiring a 20mm mounting hole. The cable exit is on the underside of the antenna and once mounted is totally enclosed, watertight to IP67 and secure.

This low profile antenna is secured in place by a nut that is tightened from underneath. The CLO is ideal 4G/5G fixed and mobile applications such as metering, security and telematics applications where a discreet antenna is required, but performance cannot be compromised. The CLO should be mounted onto a metal surface.

The formal part code for this antenna is FCLO35358-SM-2K for the model with a 2M cable and SMA-Male connector.

Platch LTE 4G compact low profile compact antenna

The Platch LTE 4G compact low profile antenna is designed for height-critical applications. It is ideal for pit lid, ground-level and discreet LTE/4G applications where a reduced-height antenna is required.

Measuring a shade over 100mm in diameter and just 14mm in height, the Platch LTE antenna is truly compact. It is fed by a RG174 cable  and SMA-Male connector exiting from the underside and is mounted via 3 mounting holes. The antenna is incredibly robust and is fully sealed and waterproof and suitable for installation in harsh environments. It offers a peak gain of 2.88 dBi.

Suitable for low-level applications, meter-pit lids, parking, datalogging and utilities applications, it is ideally mounted onto a groundplane (antenna data measured on a 500x500mm groundplane). The part number of the Platch antenna with a 1M cable and SMA-Male connector is PLA-7270-SM-1K.

The LPT600-71DMN 5G/4G Direct Mount antenna is a 5G FR1, Low Profile Transit, M2M, IOT antenna with exceptional performance, covering 617-960/1710-7125 MHz with 2dBi and 5.5dBi gain respectively. The WCO-FLY 868 915 MHz antenna is a permanent mount antenna with an integrated IPEX (U.FL) cable. Based on our WCO (waterproof compact omni) antenna platform, this model can be supplied at either 868 MHz or 915 MHz frequency bands (other frequencies may be possible). Mounting via a threaded stud with o-ring to provide a watertight seal, the antenna can mate to radios/modules that have a U.FL antenna connector.

Button WiFi6 compact low profile antenna

The Button WiFi6 compact antenna is a full spectrum WiFi low profile antenna designed for permanent mounting onto any flat surface. Mounting via a 14mm threaded stud, this antenna offers wideband WiFi connectivty in a robust, but small form factor package making it ideal for indoor and outdoor applications such as telemetry, routers and gateways, kiosks and smart terminals.

With consistent gain figures across the bands and IP67 rated when mounted correctly on a flat surface, the Button WiFi6 compact antenna is a neat solution for outdoor cabinet and enclosure installations where an external antenna is required, but antenna size has to be kept to a minimum. The antenna is fed by a 1M RG174 cable as standard and terminated in either a RP-SMA or SMA connector.

WFS5 WiFi6 WiFi6E terminal mount antenna

The WFS5 WiFi6 WiFi6E terminal mount antenna is a higher gain router/modem mount antenna for WiFi applications. Housed in a sleek sheath, the WFS5 antenna offers robust RF performance across the entire frequency range. With omni-directional gain across all bands, this antenna ensures consistent reception and transmission making it ideal for a variery of WiFi applications.

A higher performance model than our WFS3 antenna, the WFS5 offers 3 dBi gain on the lower bands and 4/5 dBi gain on the upper bands whilst only measuring 203.2mm in overall length. The antenna is groundplane independent and does not require mounting on a groundplane to radiate effectively.

The 6.2 dBi 868 MHz Omni outdoor omni-directional antenna from EAD is centre-tuned and optimised at 868 MHz.   1. What is an omni-directional antenna?
    • a omni-directional antenna is an antenna that radiates in every direction.
  2. What characteristics does a good helium omni antenna need?
    • A good outdoor helium omni antenna needs to combine effective RF performance with excellent build quality. Reliable gain figures are important for planning your deployment and the use of quality materials such as fibreglass tubes to ensure longevity when exposed long term to UV from sunlight and the weather.
  3. What mounting options are possible?
    • A good helium antenna will offer multiple mounting possibilities. Limiting the mounting to only pole mount or only wall-mount is restrictive therefore an antenna that offers both mounting options is preferred.
  4. Is the choice of RF cable important for Helium deployments?
    • The selection of quality RF cable is important for Helium antenna deployments especially for longer cable runs where it is critical to minimize signal losses (attenuation) over the length of the cable. For 10M or 20M cables, look towards 240 or 400 type cables respectively to mitigate signal losses.
  5. Is a surge arrestor required for Helium installs?
    • This is really a question for the installer. In the UK lightning strikes are very rare, so typically surge protectors are not used as the chance of a strike is so low. However, a “belt-and-braces” approach might be considered where a surge protector is used.
  6. What the best advice for choosing a Helium outdoor antenna?
    • Use a quality antenna from a reputable manufacturer where you can be sure that the specifications published match the performance of the antenna. Ensuring that the antenna is made of quality materials means that the antenna is unlikely to fail with a few weeks of installation. Select high quality low loss cables that mean you do not lose all the gain offered by the antenna over the cable run.

Helium outdoor antennas things to check before you buy

The Helium network offering low power coverage across the world is rapidly growing in popularity. Across the world, as Helium miners are being deployed, people are looking at outdoor omni-directional antennas to optimise coverage from each miner installed.

This brief comment is going to focus on build quality.

There are quite a few outdoor antennas on the market, but selecting one with build quality good enough to be permanently installed outdoors without falling apart is critical.

Many low (and very low) cost antennas are available from online market places. Ignoring poor RF performance for now, many of these low cost antennas suffer from poor build quality or inferior materials and are unlikely to survive one average winter outdoors.

Our suggestion is to look for European-manufactured Helium outdoor antennas that tend to focus on quality materials and not solely on price. One particular area to focus on is the sheath or tube as poor materials weather and crack very rapidly leading to unit failure. A proven, durable option is an antenna with a fibreglass tube which will withstand many winter’s deployment without suffering weather or UV-degradation.

Also check the brackets/clamps that come with antenna. Are they fit for purpose? Is the antenna secure enough when mounted?

There is nothing worse than having to replace the antenna you took the trouble to install three months ago due poor survivability of the materials.

GNS3602 GPS GLONASS passive internal antenna

The GNS3602 GPS GLONASS passive internal antenna is fed by a microcoax cable and IPEX-terminated (U.FL compatible) cable. The GNS3602 is designed to be integrated into GPS / GLONASS enabled devices and terminals where the GNSS module can only accommodate passive GPS/GLONASS antennas (GNSSS antennas without a LNA Low Noise Amplifier).

WCO 450 MHz Compact Outdoor Omni Antenna

The WCO 450 MHz compact waterproof omni-directional antenna is a robust solution for outdoor applications. Housed in a rigid, robust sheath, the WCO antenna is a durable solution for UHF and LTE 450 MHz deployments

The sheath length is 116mm long and the radiating element is groundplane dependent so the antenna should mount onto a metal surface, a metal wall bracket or have a proximity groundplane available. There are various connector options including N-Female Bulkhead mount, N-Male (as pictured) and TNC -Male.
